One of the many great features of the SJT is their regular play readings, the perfect way to road test new work.
“Tapped” was a new work by actress Katie Redford read in late 2021, which we saw and felt it had great promise. Katie will be known to Archers fans as Lily Pargetter.
It felt great to return a year and a half later to see the finished work come to the stage.
The three-hander is a simple tale of one man’s quest to improve his local community and exposes the fragile mental health within a family and what a cast, especially the last-minute stand-in playing Jen.
The combination of some big laughs with many powerful moments made for a really good night out with wide appeal. Let’s hope we see more of this, and more new writing from Katie.
