Locals will be all too aware that the so-called “Argos development”, a collection of derelict buildings, has been the scourge of Scarborough town centre for many years with progress halted by disagreements amongst local councillors.
Local arts guru Andew Aldis has come up with an inspired and ambitious plan to take on a number of buildings in the block and turn them into short-term lets for local creatives. These comprise The Shakespeare pub, former newsagents, sandwich shop and even the former public conveniences.
Having rewired the promises and cleared the debris Andrew is looking for volunteers to help bring the buildings back to life so please register here if you are interested in volunteering:

With the future of the buildings being uncertain they could be available for anything from six months to ten years but, given the delays to date we believe they should enjoy their new homes for some years.
Good luck to Andrew and we look forward to keeping you updated.
