Motor Home Ban Agreed

North Yorkshire Council have agreed an experimental ban on overnight motorhome parking on the North Bay seafront.

The new rules will ban overnight parking from 11pm to 7am and will be trilled over an eighteen month period.

The council will be setting up an online consultation page to gather feedback on whether the new arrangements are working.  Other options such as introducing a charge for overnight parking, were considered but it was felt these would not fully address the problem.

This move appears popular with local residents and businesses who feel that the majority of motorhome users bring little to the local economy, depriving official campsites and hotels of much needed income.
