Well, what an evening that was, with big laughs from start to finish. The subject matter is something the audience can really relate to, with the cost of living crisis, the effects of covid, rising energy bills and astronomical property prices all in the mix.
If there were awards given out for moaning then John Godber’s character Dave would be sure to scoop the main prize as he whinges with aplomb.
The powerful combination of a common writer, performer and co-director really delivers and the real life husband and wife team adds so much to their performances with Peter McMillan completing the trio perfectly as the son they just can’t shake off.
These characters really have legs and you could imagine them in almost any setting, maybe even transferring to the small screen.
A really great night out, on until Saturday at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
