Review – “Do I Love You”

The John Godber Company’s latest offering “Do I Love You” is a hilarious story following twenty somethings Sally, Matt and Kyle, living their pedestrian lives and in search of something to make life worth living.

Music and dance are weaved throughout this production as it effortlessly introduced the audience to a new generation of Northern Soul disciples.  The comparison with modern day Britain and the 1970’s is clear, referencing a world of strikes, unemployment, poverty and the hospitality industry in decline.

The production is very fluid, keeping your interest up from start to finish, assisted by a hugely talented cast who are surely destined for great things.

This Hull-based company are well known for the highly acclaimed “Bouncers” and this almost sold out run provides a big hint this could well follow in its footsteps.

The Stephen Joseph Theatre manage, yet again, to bring us some first-class theatre.
