Detailed Information

South Cliff Gardens is a true Scarborough gem, hidden amongst the woodland slopes. The area was planned in 1889 and took over 40 years to complete but all that effort was worth it.

The area starts at the pedestrian Spa Bridge and extends to Holbeck, the location famous for the  Holbeck Hall Hotel sliding into the sea in 1993, taking a field of cows with it (unharmed but confused!).

A of the South Cliff is the Italian Gardens, a beautiful place to enjoy the quiet and maybe feed the birds and squirrels.

Fans of the TV series “The Royal” can also see the film location of the hospital, opposite The Clocktower.
