I decided to open LET IT BRIE in May 2016 after taking a year out in 2015, following a 20 year career in hotels. This was to take care of the school run and take care of our young children Olivia and Amelie.
I initially intended to open a coffee shop, but after taking advice from good friends Ruth and Chris Fairchild on their retirement from Fairchild’s at the Cheese Board around the corner in Victoria Road, I decided to combine the coffee shop idea with a cheese shop and sandwich shop/deli and LET IT BRIE was born.
We like to work closely with local community groups such as Coast and Vale Community Action (CAVCA) and Totally Socially, where ‘Scarborough Ideas Club’ was born. This group is held here at LET IT BRIE every 3 weeks and is open to anyone who may have any ideas on how to improve Scarborough as a town, whether it be new planters in the town centre or literacy groups for kids.
