Following the demise of the Alpamare waterpark last year North Yorkshire Council are searching for a new operator for the Scarborough site.
It is hoped that a new contract will be in place in the near future to allow reopening this summer
The three week search is initially seeking an operator willing to commit to a short-term 12-month rental agreement prior to a comprehensive review of the future operational strategy for the waterpark.
North Yorkshire Council’s assistant director for commercial, property and procurement, Kerry Metcalfe commented “We are working hard to confirm a new tenant to reopen the facility in time for the main 2024 summer season. Once that is in place, we can look to the longer-term options.”
Situated on the North Bay the waterpark is an important attraction for the are offering a wave pool, splash & play areas, four slides, outdoor pools, an alpine-themed spa & treatment zone and a café and terrace bar.
