The 2024 holiday season was treated with some trepidation by those is the Scarborough hospitality business with the coat of living crisis and poorer than usual weather creating the perfect storm.
The early months were predictably slow, with visit numbers down significantly and even the holiday hotspots of Devon and Cornwall reporting poor trading conditions. Then, as the sun eventually put in an appearance and people seemed to become resigned to the economic woes things took a significant turn for the better with most businesses reporting the season to be at a similar level to last year, beathing a huge sigh of relief.
With this year recently confirmed as being the poorest weather since 2015 we can only hope 2024 is a blip on the meteorology calendar and we can look forward to a far better season next year.
